Prepare a Resignation Notification Without Confusing Its Effect

First establish whether the general partner has already notified ACRA of the departure. The direct-notification route is available to the departing general partner, limited partner or manager when the general partner has not filed on their behalf. It is a record-update route for a position that has ceased, rather than a substitute for determining the effective resignation under the partnership arrangements.

As practical preparation, keep the LP’s UEN, the exact role and the effective resignation date together with the resignation correspondence. Check the details against the entity record before submitting the Notice of Cessation or resignation transaction. The LP’s information-change obligation is within 14 days; the processing period for an application does not extend that notification deadline. ACRA lists this notification as free.

Applications satisfying the requirements may be approved immediately, while applications needing further review are processed within 20 working days, with notice if more time is required. Follow the status through Bizfile’s Transaction Status Enquiry and any email address provided. Once the record is updated, separately address contractual commitments or obligations to the partnership and other partners: ACRA explicitly states that its notification does not change those obligations. Keep the acknowledgement and eventual response for the handover.
