Eligibility Requirements
Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen aged 18 to 30 when applying, with a university degree or the equivalent of two completed years of full-time undergraduate university study. The programme permits up to twelve months of living and working.
Permitted Employment
Work as an employee of an ACRA-registered company or ROS-registered organisation. Regulated professions such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, architecture and law require Singapore practice registration.
Restrictions
Freelance employment is prohibited. Do not work for the same employer for more than six months; change employers or holiday for the remainder. Do not study or train beyond the period specified for the applicable programme. This page does not give a single numerical study limit.
Check Funding and Employment Limits Before Committing
No job offer is required before applying for this Work Holiday Pass. However, MOM's separate programme FAQ requires the applicant to be able to support themselves financially and to declare sufficient funds for arrival, stay and departure. Do not treat an expected future salary as a substitute for checking that declaration. The official FAQ does not specify a single minimum savings figure, so no fixed bank-balance threshold is stated here.
The employment permission is for employees of ACRA-registered companies or ROS-registered organisations. Freelance employment is excluded, and the same-employer limit is six months even though the pass lasts twelve months. As practical preparation, check the legal employing organisation and intended employment dates before accepting an offer. Changing to another employer after that period and spending the rest of the time holidaying are options expressly described by MOM.
The application route requires the candidate's passport and the appropriate university evidence. An undergraduate's university letter must include year of study and must not be dated more than three months before application. Keep eligibility evidence separate from the financial declaration. Because this programme is issued only once and cannot be renewed, plan the full stint within that limit rather than relying on renewal of the twelve-month pass or assuming the rules of the separate six-month Work Holiday Programme apply.
