Work and Holiday Visa: Appealing a Rejected Work Holiday Pass: Deadline and New Information

Authorised parties, written authorisation, rejection reasons and the minimum four-week processing period.

Source reviewed: 2026-10-12

When to Appeal

Read the rejection advisory in the emailed letter. Appeal only when new information addresses its issues; without it the outcome will not change. Submit within three months of the rejection email, or make a new application if late.

Who Submits and How

Only the applicant or authorised EA may enquire or appeal, using the linked form. An EA must attach signed applicant authorisation to appeal. MOM cannot discuss appeals in person because of volume.

Processing takes at least four weeks, sometimes longer. The outcome goes to the original application’s email address.

Explain How New Evidence Answers the Rejection

Read the rejection advisory against the eligibility evidence actually submitted. If the issue concerns university study, identify what the new academic record establishes about a degree or two completed years of full-time undergraduate study. If it concerns citizenship or age, a different explanation does not alter the programme's Australian or New Zealand citizenship and eighteen-to-thirty application-age conditions. As practical preparation, distinguish a corrected record from a request to waive an eligibility condition.

For an issue about supporting funds, check the separate requirement to declare sufficient funds for arrival, stay and departure. Do not invent a minimum balance that MOM has not stated in that FAQ. Explain the relevant new information and its connection with the advisory, instead of adding unrelated documents simply to enlarge the submission. This is preparation advice, not a required appeal format or a guarantee that the evidence will be accepted.

Use the rejection email date to track the three-month submission limit. An authorised agent must attach signed applicant authority for the appeal. The result goes to the original application email, so monitor that address while waiting. The at-least-four-week processing period is separate from the filing deadline; collecting documents does not extend that deadline, and a late case requires a new application.
