Unless exempt, new companies from 16 June 2025 file initial information on registration day; the older-company transition deadline was 31 December 2025. Later updates are due within two business days of changing the private registers, with no extension route. Current nominee status appears in business profiles, but nominator identities and historical arrangements remain private. Errors can be corrected through the register-update service without a Notice of Error.
Use a Separate Record for Each Nomination
Prepare the private registers before entering the central transaction. Where one nominee has several nominators, or one nominator has several nominees, create a separate record for each arrangement. The same person may therefore appear in more than one record. ACRA permits up to 100 arrangements across nominee directors and shareholders in one or more transactions; additional arrangements require another transaction through the same service. A foreign company must supply the nominee shareholder’s name because ACRA does not hold its member information. If a foreign corporate nominator has no registration number, the guidance specifies entering Not applicable in that field.
Distinguish Nominee Status from Other Appointments
Correct a register filing through the Update Registers of Nominee Directors and Nominee Shareholders service; a Notice of Error is unnecessary and submitted corrections update immediately. When a nominee ceases an appointment, record both the appointment cessation and the date the nomination ended through their respective services. Updating the nomination alone does not update every position-holder or shareholder record. Public Business Profiles show current ND or NS status, while nominator identities, nomination dates and historical arrangements remain private. If there are no active nominees, submit that answer through the register service instead of assuming that no central filing is needed.
