Check the Institution Name
Degree-equivalent qualifications meeting C2 criteria appear in SAT and the application form. If an entry is missing, check that the institution name has been translated correctly, contains no spelling errors and uses the latest name after any renaming.
Request MOM’s Assessment with Verification
If the issue remains, obtain proof from an MOM-listed background screening company confirming that the qualification is genuine and accredited, and submit it to MOM. MOM assesses UK-degree equivalence with reference to international recognition bodies such as UK ENIC and decides whether it qualifies for C2 points. A missing list entry does not by itself establish equivalence or guarantee points.
Prepare an Institution Name Record
As a practical preparation step, record the institution name exactly as awarded, its current official English name, and where any translation or name change can be checked. Compare this record with the SAT search before selecting an institution. Avoid choosing a similar but different institution merely to obtain a result. Keep the search discrepancy with the qualification documents so that the person making the submission can explain precisely what is missing.
Separate Verification from C2 Assessment
For the missing-entry route, approach a provider on MOM’s current list to check authenticity and accreditation. The report supports MOM’s assessment; it does not award C2 points automatically. Under MOM’s EP verification requirements, a background screening report must carry an MOM verification reference number. Reports issued before 1 September 2023 need to be reissued with that number. An ordinary educational certificate, a notarised copy or a school letter alone is not accepted verification proof.
Check whether the qualification has already been verified before commissioning another check. If the application does not need C2 points, MOM’s C2 guidance says the qualification and verification proof need not be submitted for that criterion. Resolve which situation applies before ordering documents.
