Renewal
Renew LOC when renewing DP; applications may begin six months before LOC expiry. DP must remain valid for at least three months, otherwise renew DP first. Renewal through Singapore EP eService is free and most cases take three weeks.
Cancellation and Replacement
Cancel through Singapore EP eService within one week after the last notice day, or when the business is no longer active. Cancellation is immediate unless scheduled in advance, with requests allowed up to 14 days early: a 15 February cancellation may be requested from 1 February. A lost LOC must be reported and replacement requested using the official linked route.
Confirm the Spouse LOC Route Before Renewing
This LOC arrangement is for spouses holding a DP under an Overseas Networks & Expertise Pass. Other dependants need a work pass to work for an employer; the spouse LOC procedure should not be applied to every family member. For a spouse operating a business, the candidate or an appointed employment agent makes the initial application. For employment, the prospective employer applies on the candidate's behalf. Identify which arrangement is continuing before preparing renewal.
Keep the DP and LOC expiry dates together. The LOC can run only up to DP expiry, and MOM requires at least three months of DP validity before the LOC application. The renewal window can open six months before LOC expiry, but that does not remove the DP-validity check. Initial LOC applications generally take within four weeks, while the renewal page states within three weeks for most cases. Neither is the time estimated to fill out an online form.
As practical administration, keep loss, renewal and cancellation as separate events. A missing LOC requires the report-and-replacement route; it is not itself a reason to end a continuing employment arrangement. Where employment or the business ends, use the stated cancellation procedure and check any requested advance date. Save the actual outcome with the DP and LOC record instead of assuming submission alone has completed the action.
