Notifying MOM of Work Pass Exempt Activities

Submit the notification after arriving and obtaining a Short-Term Visit Pass, but before starting the exempt activity.

Source reviewed: 2026-10-12

When the Notification Must Be Made

Submit the online notification after entering Singapore and obtaining a Short-Term Visit Pass at immigration, and before beginning the work pass exempt activity. Carrying out the activity without first notifying MOM is an offence.

Information to Prepare

The e-notification requires personal particulars, including name and date of birth; passport number and expiry date; Disembarkation/Embarkation card number; Short-Term Visit Pass expiry date; the activity type; the start and end dates; and the workplace address.

Keep the Acknowledgement

After submitting the notification, print the acknowledgement letter. The notification must precede the activity; submitting it after work has started does not fulfil the stated timing requirement.

Check Exemption Eligibility Before Submitting Dates

Notification is only one part of using a work pass exemption. The person must already have been engaged for the eligible activity before entering Singapore, have a valid ICA Short-Term Visit Pass covering the activity, and meet any applicable professional requirements. Immigration entry remains separately assessed. Check the actual activity category before preparing the notification; describing ordinary work as a conference or training visit does not establish eligibility.

The total work pass exempt activity allowance is up to ninety days in a calendar year across visits. Each visit is also limited by the STVP actually granted. MOM does not consider STVP-extension requests for the purpose of performing these activities. For planning, record both the remaining annual allowance and the current visit-pass expiry; the ninety-day annual maximum is not an automatic ninety-day stay.

The e-notification service can display the balance of allowable days and reprint an acknowledgement. Keep a copy during the activity. After a successful submission the information cannot be edited; MOM instructs users to resubmit with the correct information if needed. This differs from some other MOM notification systems that allow amendments. As a practical final check, compare passport details, activity dates and workplace address with the acknowledgement before beginning the notified activity.
