Payments and Account Records
The MDW levy directory links to payment guidance covering levy rates, payment methods, bill viewing and updates to payment records. Consult it for the actual account and rate requirements; this directory page does not itself set out the figures.
Concessions and Waivers Are Different
The concession page explains whether the employer qualifies for the reduced levy arrangement. The waiver page separately explains situations and steps for applying to waive levy. Select the relevant procedure rather than assuming a concession or absence automatically stops charges.
Reconcile the Levy Bill Before Choosing a Remedy
The normal monthly rate is S$300 for the first helper and S$450 for subsequent helpers; the concessionary rate is S$60. Daily rates apply for an incomplete calendar month. For a first-time helper, levy starts on the fifth day of arrival, counting arrival day; otherwise it starts the following day. For the waiver calculation, levy runs through the day before permit cancellation or revocation, or through the expiry date if the permit expires.
Payment is due on the seventeenth of the following month, or the next working day where that date is a weekend or public holiday. Check the actual bill, GIRO funds and deduction limit. A levy concession concerns an eligible household member; it is limited to one helper per eligible person and two per household. Having a second helper alone does not establish eligibility for a second concession.
A waiver is a separate request. Overseas leave must last at least seven consecutive days and is capped at sixty calendar days per calendar year. Apply using the actual departure and return dates, from the first day of the month following receipt of the levy bill, within MOM's one-year limit. An approved waiver is credited to the levy account to offset bills. For preparation, keep the bill and travel dates together rather than stopping payment because a waiver request is pending.
