The Historical Incident
The 11 December 2018 shooting and stabbing near Strasbourg’s Christmas market killed five people and injured 13, according to the bulletin. Workplace vigilance and quick decisions can change outcomes during such incidents.
Workplace Lessons
Teach staff to move away from danger, hide if they cannot escape and report when safe. Shops near an outside threat may need to secure their premises. Rehearse routes and train recognised first-aid, CPR and AED skills; emergency casualty care should follow 995 instructions rather than improvised techniques from an old leaflet.
